CEGeME is a research group located at the School of Music of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais – UFMG), Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Research developed at CEGeME focus mainly on empirical study of musical expressiveness, aiming at understanding the processes involved in the production and perception of a musical performance. The approach is based on the identification of patterns of manipulation of duration, energy and spectral content of the acoustic material produced by the musician, as well as of body movement extracted from the three-dimensional position of the musician and the instrument.
Situated in Belo Horizonte, the capital of the Federal State of Minas Gerais, the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais has 3 university campi, 20 academic unities with 94 departments.
