Information for Foreign Travellers

Visa Information

Citizens from the U.S.A., Canada, Japan and Australia need to apply for a visa to enter Brazil. This process is usually very simple and can be done on the internet (eVisa), at the website http://vfsglobal.com/brazil-evisa/. The entire process takes about 2 weeks, but we suggest you apply as soon as possible if you haven’t done it yet.

The visa has been waived for most European and Latin American countries, but we suggest you check the updated visa requirements for your country [1].

The Visa must be obtained in person in advance for many Asian and African countries, so if you are from these continents, check the requirements for your country [1].

Health Recommendations

Vaccination against Yellow Fever is highly recommended if you are visiting Brazil, although it is not currently mandatory for visitors from most countries. There was an increase in the occurrences of the disease in Brazil during the last two summers, but it’s important to clarify that there are no records of the transmission of the disease in the city of Belo Horizonte [2]. Also, the disease is highly seasonal, and during the dry season, the number of occurrences usually drop to a very low number [3]. SysMus will be held in June, one of the driest and coldest months in the Brazilian weather (average June temperature: 17.1ºC; average June precipitation: 13mm) [4].

Nonetheless, the World Health Organization recommends vaccination at least 10 days before you travel to countries with recent outbreaks of Yellow Fever, Brazil included in that list. We encourage you to follow this recommendation.

You should also check if any other vaccines are mandatory for citizens from your country to travel to Brazil.

Arriving at Belo Horizonte

At Tancredo Neves Airport / Confis (CNF), there is a bus available, called Conexão Aeroporto, that will take you straight to the City Centre. There are a few choices of destinations in Belo Horizonte. We recommend you to take the bus that goes to Álvares Cabral Avenue terminal. This terminal is located very close to the conference venue.

We might have some members of the organization available to meet you at the Álvares Cabral bus terminal. If you are interested in having someone from our team there to welcome you, please send an e-mail to sysmus2018@gmail.com with the subject “SysMus Greeter” with information about your flight and connections (flight numbers), expected arrival date and time at Belo Horizonte, and the name of the hotel where you are staying.
